The Tourism Management and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts departments, which provide education within the faculty, have been entitled to receive 6 years of full accreditation from the Tourism Education Evaluation and Accreditation Board (TURAK) as of December 31, 2025. Thus, MAKÜ Faculty of Tourism has taken its place among the few tourism faculties with all active departments fully accredited.
They presented the Accreditation Certificate to Rector Dalgar
The accreditation certificate was presented to MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar by the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Prof. Dr. Murat Yeşiltaş, and the faculty administration. In the visit, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sandıkcı, Head of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department of Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Tourism and a member of the TURAK Accreditation Board, was also present.
Since 2013, MAKÜ Faculty of Tourism has been continuing its educational activities, attracting attention with its foreign language-oriented education model and practice-based approach. Within the framework of the 6+2 education model implemented in the faculty, students receive theoretical education for the first three years, while in the final year, they undergo vocational training in tourism enterprises for two semesters. Thanks to summer internships and practical courses, students are prepared for the sector before graduation.
The faculty also stands out with the practical areas it offers to its students. In areas such as the five-star Lavanta Tepesi Hotel, practice kitchens, Book & Coffee Cafeteria, and Stone Room Gastronomy Kitchen, students gain experience and find job opportunities.
In the faculty, where foreign language education is emphasized, courses in German and Russian are also offered in addition to English. Furthermore, meetings, interviews, and collaborations organized with industry representatives contribute to students' career planning.
Speaking about the accreditation success, Dean Prof. Dr. Murat Yeşiltaş stated that the result obtained demonstrates the quality of education provided at the faculty and thanked the academic and administrative staff who contributed to the process.
Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized that the Faculty of Tourism stands out with its practical education model, stating that graduates can easily find jobs in the sector.
